Pre-purchase used-car inspection
A pre-purchase inspection assesses the car before a buyer commits to it. It can cover visible condition, mechanical systems, electronic faults and a road test where permitted. It is different from the official licence-renewal examination and from a seller’s own presentation of the car.
Exterior, underbody and mechanical assessment
Inspection access determines what can be assessed. A lift can reveal areas not visible from a car park; a cold start and road test provide different observations from a stationary warm engine. The report should record visible defects and any areas that could not be inspected.
Electronic scans and hybrid or EV checks
A fault-code scan is one part of an inspection, not a complete guarantee of condition. For a hybrid or EV, traction-battery information needs its own test description and limitations. Service records and the identity of the actual model version help interpret the findings.
Using the report in a purchase decision
Separate observed defects, recommended investigation and estimated remedial work. An inspection records the car at the time of the visit; it cannot guarantee all hidden faults or future reliability. Seller permission, inspection location and a written report should be settled before the appointment.

Lexus Hong Kong offers full-hybrid and petrol models, plus the battery-electric RZ and the new all-electric ES350e and ES500e. An ES, RX and LM have different mechanical layouts and body equipment, so the model suffix and powertrain matter when planning service.
