Tesla and EV maintenance in Hong Kong: what to ask
An electric vehicle does not use a conventional engine-oil service. Its maintenance needs still depend on the model, year and manufacturer instructions. Use the correct owner information to identify the work required instead of purchasing a generic petrol-car package.

Separate routine care from high-voltage work
Ask the garage which tasks it can perform on your exact EV, what equipment is used and whether any work must be referred elsewhere. Tyres, brakes, filters and diagnostic checks have different requirements from traction-battery work. For warranty questions, consult the applicable vehicle terms rather than assuming an independent service is automatically covered.
What the inspection or service should clarify
Agree these points with the garage before booking. A list of possible checks is not a diagnosis of your car, and the quoted scope should state which are included.
- Model/year-specific maintenance schedule
- Tyres, brakes and relevant filters
- Low-voltage system and reported warnings
- High-voltage work agreed only with suitable expertise
What changes the quote?
Ask for a written HKD quote identifying the vehicle, parts, labour and assessment fee. Compare the same scope across garages; a package name or starting price alone does not show what will be done.
- Routine checks versus charging/traction-battery diagnosis
- Vehicle-specific access and equipment
- Filters, consumables and any calibration
Prepare useful information
Send the model year, powertrain, mileage and service history. Describe the exact warning or symptom and when it happens. Include whether the car can be driven and where it is parked; confirm access and transport separately from the repair price.
- What is the exact model, year and maintenance history?
- Is this routine servicing or a charging/range/warning issue?
Before authorising the work
Confirm whether the quotation is fixed or subject to inspection, what is excluded, when parts are expected and how extra work is approved. Ask for written warranty terms and the follow-up process if a symptom remains. Keep the invoice and job sheet with the maintenance record. Carservice.hk is an enquiry platform; the responding garage performs the work and agrees its terms directly with you.
