Car AC Not Cooling? Common Causes and Solutions
A working air conditioner is essential for comfortable driving in Hong Kong's summer heat. If your AC isn't cooling properly, here are the common causes.
1. Low Refrigerant
The most common cause of poor AC performance. Refrigerant can leak from damaged hoses or connections.
2. Clogged Cabin Air Filter
A dirty filter restricts airflow and reduces cooling efficiency. Replace it annually or every 15,000 km.
3. Faulty Compressor
The compressor is the heart of your AC system. If it fails, the system won't cool at all.
4. Condenser Problems
The condenser releases heat. If it's blocked by debris or damaged, cooling performance suffers.
5. Electrical Issues
Faulty switches, fuses, or wiring can prevent the AC system from operating.
If your AC is blowing warm air, have it inspected promptly. Running the AC with low refrigerant can damage the compressor.
